Tasha BWhere do I start-this place is amazing! The views are 180 degrees of spectacular coastline on Lake Michigan. This cottage is so picturesque that it would be perfect for any event, from a wedding or girls/guys weekend, to a retreat or a milestone birthday party. The inside of the cottage is clean, comfortable, quaint and very inviting. If you’re considering renting this jewel on the lake, just do it-you’ll be so happy you did! We love it so much that we’re heading back in October

Nancy and John SchnarreUp North. Pure Michigan. Lake Michigan unsalted - Have finally unpacked and must blast the following. We love, love, love the pretty cottage on Lake Michigan. Spacious, great kitchen, sleeps 12 and with every amenity. Cozy with family photos. Beautiful views from every window, 3 decks, hammock, flowers, sandy beach and Old Glory standing tall with the trees. We could see across Lake Michigan (7 miles) to Fox Island and the lighthouse on the tip of Leelanau Peninsula. From calm waters to white caps looking like ruffles on a frilly skirt, we rushed back to Osenko Cottage every evening to see golden, red-orange sunsets. Sundown happens quickly and then the moon lights a silvery path to the horizon. The lake casts a spell, trance-like. Soft lapping waves are good for the soul and falling asleep. Lake Shore Dr. is a pretty country road with a posted speed limit of 20 and nice neighbors. We took slow walks and explored narrow paths thru the quiet woods. The lonely red caboose with white curtains at the end of the road is a mystery. It almost disappears into the trees. Norwood Twp. (formerly Great Crossing) is a tiny town that started as a shipping dock and sawmill in 1867. Timberrrr! Lumber from Norwood was shipped by steamers and schooners to help rebuild Chicago after the the Great Fire in 1871. The original Schoolhouse, Methodist Church and Township Hall are still in use and definitely worth a picture or two. Osenko has plenty to do without leaving the property. Just look in the garage. We saw the eagle early one morning and two guys fishing in a canoe who dropped out of the LL Bean catalog. Viv sketched Lake Michigan from the deck with her charcoals. My niece revealed her prizewinning sketch of Empire Point. The girls rinsed their hair in the lake with fresh lemon juice hoping to bleach and dry their long locks in the sun. It is best not to be lazing in the hammock at 10:30 am when the sprinklers go on. We saw the racoon on the porch one night and then heard him tapping lightly on the roof once or twice. In downtown Charlevoix or Petunia City, five colorful miles of petunias line Bridge St. I love the creaking drawbridge. It clangs every 30 minutes. Traffic stops, the bridge goes up and the pleasure crafts cruise up or down the channel while out-of-towners enjoy the yachts along the walkway to the Pier Lighthouse. A three masted schooner 'Inland Seas' floats by with two Robinson Crusoe shipmates aboard. It looks like a pirate ship but I learned it is The Great Lakes Adventure Ship; an education and training vessel for all ages that sails out of Suttons Bay, Leland, Northport, and Traverse Bay all summer. Marvelous! The Cherry Crumble Cake from Friske's Market is scrumptious for breakfast and snacking. I got some Cherry flavored coffee which is my favorite brewed awakening. Kelsey's Lakeside Grill and the Weathervane have nice porch dining. I am wearing a colorful glass bracelet from Bier Art Gallery. The original stone fireplace is still there and chateau size. There are Andirondak chairs with the outlined back of Michigan in Fishtown, Leland. Very Cool! Life, Liberty, Beaches and Pie - There are 175 cherry concotions at the Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor with an Olympic-sized cherry pit spitting arena. The Cherry Lime-Ade is refreshing. The National Sleeping Bear Dunes are great family fun to climb, trudge, stagger, catapult or roll down. Osenko! We are still under your spell. Thank you, Jennifer B. John and Nancy
Greg ChanskiWe had a great time last week. Entire family was there including our 2 year old granddaughter. Weather was outstanding and the place was perfect. Thank you so much. We also took advantage of having everyone together and had family pictures taken at your place. Also, our daughter was engaged during our stay. Her fiance proposed on Thursday evening on the beach just prior to sunset. This was our second year at the Osenko Cottage and we are looking forward to next year already!
Doug and DonnaINCREDIBLE sums it up! Beautiful cottage inside and out!. The beach and view was fantastic! Accommodations are beyond belief! A most enjoyable week! Alot to do, Petosky, Charlevox or just plain sitting at the beach. Definitely will do it again. THANKS Jennifer! Donna & Doug
Trish LagendykWe cannot put into words how perfect Osenko Cottage is for rest and relaxation. We spent a 4-day weekend there for our 28th wedding anniversary, and we felt honored that Jennifer opens up her cottage home for guests like us to have a chance to enjoy such a peaceful setting. The cottage is completely furnished and nothing is needed to walk in and just enjoy. Since our anniversary is in September we couldn't really do anything IN the water, but that didn't stop us from enjoying watching the waves and taking in the gorgeous sunsets while laying in the relaxing hammock and just rejuvenating our souls. We left with Osenko Cottage in our hearts and a promise to return.
Susan K SmithWe spent the week of August 19th 2012 at the Osenko cottage with our 5 adult children and two infant grandchildren. The accommodations were excellent; comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, pleasant furnishings. We enjoyed the huge deck, the hammock, Petoskey stone hunting and bike riding. The sunsets were spectacular and we ended the day with a campfire on the beach. The owners were a delight to work with and superb communicators. The only inconvenience was the lack of internet service. We hope to return to this true vacation paradise next year.
